Finance students benefit from links with the practical world of finance.
Members of the Department have been involved in consulting to both the private and public sectors and have presented short courses for practitioners on specific topics.
Accreditations
Various accreditations, memberships and subject exemptions are also available for finance students, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level:
- Finance and Treasury Association (FTA)
- CPA Australia
- Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
Industry work experience
The Industry year allows enrolled Bachelor of Commerce students to gain work experience during their degree. You can gain employment experience whilst you study, allowing you to interact in a professional working environment, use the skills and knowledge from your course, test out potential professions and network with graduate employers.
Other opportunities include vacation employment, the students work placements program, undertaking the third year “management practicum” subject, and graduate employment activities.
Industry and careers fairs
The University provides a careers resource centre for current students and recent graduates. It includes career counselling, assistance with preparation of resumes, and hosting of employer information sessions and industry experience and careers fairs.
