The Department of Finance welcomes students from all over the world.
Of all Finance Honours, Postgraduate coursework and Research students, international students make up over a third of all enrolments.
Applications for admission are judged only on individual academic merit.
In assessing postgraduate applications from international students, Finance academic staff are familiar with many different educational systems and consider each application within the context of the resources available, the educational procedures of the country as well as cultural and regional differences.

English proficiency:
All applicants must meet the English language requirements of the University to be eligible to be offered a place.
There are several ways of meeting this requirement: full details are available on the prospective students international English requirements webpages:-

Admissions
Undergraduate entry
International students who wish to apply for a a place in the Bachelor of Commerce must have:
- successfully completed the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or an equivalent qualification;
- completed each of the prerequisite subjects for the course and any prerequisite tests
- achieved the required marks in each of the prerequisite subjects; and
- met the English language requirements.

Postgraduate entry
GMAT and GRE
All applicants seeking entry to masters and PhD level programs in Semester 1 2009 are required to sit the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) and submit results as part of their application. Please note that applicants to economics programs must sit the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test in place of the GMAT.
The University reserves the right to waive the GMAT requirement.
Original documentation of GMAT or GRE results must be submitted with applications.

Your application must include documents that indicate your proficiency in English and include GMAT or GRE results. Applications will not be considered without original or certified documentary evidence of all qualifications, which must include a transcript showing results of all subjects attempted. A certified translation must be provided if the documents are not in English. You are advised not to send originals, but the University will need to see them before your enrolment can be finalised. You will receive notice of the result of your application promptly. If your application is successful, you will be sent detailed instructions on visa processing and other information that is necessary to facilitate your arrival and enrolment in the University.
- Doctor of Philosophy Applications
A Central University Committee administers the PhD degree.
International applications for PhD candidature are made directly to the International Centre.For Semester 1 2009 applications, original documentation of GMAT or GRE results must be submitted with applications.

International Undergraduate Scholarships
International students who are offered a place in the single Bachelor of Commerce at the University are automatically considered for a scholarship by the Faculty of Economics and Commerce. There are 12 international undergraduate scholarships available each year. They are valued at 25% fee remission.
No application is necessary. International students offered a place in the single BCom are automatically considered.
