Masters programs in Finance
Masters by Coursework
The University of Melbourne offers two practitioner degrees at Masters level. There is no research component.
These are the:
- Master of Applied Finance (MAF) - for Finance industry professionals; and
- Master of Financial Management (MFM) - no work experience required.
A single-year Postgraduate Diploma in Finance is also available
These three qualifications form the Postgraduate Professional Programs in Finance.

Masters by Research
The Master of Commerce (Finance) is designed for students to acquire knowledge in Finance and develop the skills necessary to carry out independent and sustained research. No work experience is required for admission.
Resources for Postgraduate Students
There are a variety of resources available to Finance Postgraduate students:
- access to a comprehensive range of financial databases and computing laboratories.
- The Faculty of Economics and Commerce Teaching and learning unit (TLU) provides learning and language skills support.
- The University provides a careers resource centre for current students and recent graduates. It includes career counselling, assistance with preparation of resumes, and hosting of employer information sessions and careers fairs.
